Georgia

Greg headed to Georgia for a business trip a couple of weeks ago and I got to join him for a few days. We enjoyed our first night in Atlanta enjoying the big city and then headed for the small towns where Greg was working. We found a few interesting things to do but mainly just enjoyed a little freedom from our responsibilities as parents. :)

These tall evergreens seemed to be everywhere in Georgia. Along with a ton of pecan trees.

We visited the Andersonville Prisoner of War Camp and stood on ground where nearly 13,000 people died in the civil war. Here we are at the National Cemetery. We were surprised when the Iowa monument was the first state monument we saw. We thought it was one of the best. If you're interested, you can find out more about the civil war camp here.

We had a Valentine dinner at the historic Windsor Hotel, which has been restored to it's original 1892 condition. It was beautiful. We didn't stay there but it is rumored to be haunted which would have been fun. I tried to get a good photo of the hotel lobby but was unsuccessful, you can see it on the hotel's website here

It was the longest I had been away from the boys but they were in great hands with their grandparents and it was great to just get away for a few days and spend time just the two of us.
